Lulu’s Mysterious Mission

“In which a little girl learns she is neither alone in the universe, nor the center of it.”

Lulu's Mysterious Mission is the third in a series of books by Judith Viorst. I was tapped to do the interior illustrations, the previous two Lulu books having been illustrated by Lane Smith (who also lent his incredible talents to the cover for this installment of Lulu’s story!). One of the pleasures of working on this book was taking the characters Lane had already designed, and translating them into my own visual language. Though the illustrations have a more naturalistic sheen, they still are built with the graphic, shape-based style Mr. Smith developed.

If you're interested in getting your own copy of Lulu's Mysterious Mission, I have great news. They sell it in bookstores! Or, if you're lazy like me, you can get it using the internet on bookshop.org!

Lulu Is Getting A Sister

Lulu has faced a lot of challenges over the years, but this one might be the toughest. Can she convince her parents to not have a sister? Obviously not. That would make this book super dark. Instead, Lulu is shipped off to Camp Sisterhood, where she learns how to be a sibling, and more importantly, roasts a ton of marshmallows. If you also enjoy the roasting of marshmallows and delight in tales about the folly of youth, pick yourself up a copy of Lulu Is Getting A Sister today! You won't regret it! Unless you buy the edition made of solid gold, because that thing is literally like 780 pounds.
